Installation

How do I install a Holon tool in Canvas?

Buy a license, copy your key from the portal, then in Canvas go to Admin → Settings → Apps → View App Configurations → +App. Choose "By URL," paste the config URL from your install email, and paste your license key as the Shared Secret. Save and you're live.

Can I install at the course level instead?

Yes. Same flow, but from the course's Settings → Apps screen instead of the institution's admin panel. Individual licenses are meant for course-level or instructor-level installs; Institution licenses cover root-level installs across all courses.

My license key says "invalid" after installing

Two likely causes: (1) there's a space before or after the key when you pasted — delete and retype. (2) The license expired or was cancelled — check your portal. If neither, email us the key and we'll look at it.

How do I add more tools to my license?

From your portal, click + Add Tools on your license card. Pick the tools you want — the pro-rated price shows instantly. Pay and they're unlocked immediately under the same license key.

How do I renew?

From your portal, click Renew on your license card when it's within 30 days of expiring. Renewal extends your license by 365 days from your current expiration date. Your license key stays the same — no reinstalling needed.

Can I cancel and get a refund?

You can cancel any time — cancellation stops auto-renew but your current license keeps working until it expires. Refunds are case-by-case; email us within 30 days of purchase if you need one.

I lost my license key

Go to the customer portal, enter the email you used to purchase, and click the magic link we email you. All your license keys are listed there.

Which Canvas versions do your tools support?

All Holon tools work with current Canvas (Instructure). We use standard LTI 1.1. If your Canvas instance has LTI disabled, speak with your IT admin to enable it — it's required for any external tool.

Do you ever delete student data?

Only what's needed to run the tool. We don't retain student PII after license expiration. Detailed data practices are in each tool's privacy page — email us for a copy before purchasing if you need it for compliance review.

Can I try a tool before buying?

Two ways. (1) Every tool has a live interactive demo at apps.holontechnology.com. (2) Every tool also works for 5 days after install without a valid license — paste any key into Canvas and it runs immediately. After 5 days the license needs to be valid. For longer institutional pilots, email us.
